Dan Burleson

I have been making “one-of-a-kind” artistic and functional items on a wood lathe since 1983.  I am a retired Asst Fire Chief so I can now focus full time on my woodworking art.  I use reBurlesman-4claimed Missouri hardwoods, keeping it out of the landfill and putting it to a better use.  The bowls are food safe as they are treated with linseed and orange oil.  Pyrography (wood burning) and carving is done by hand.

I have been a member of American Association of Woodturners (AAW www.woodturner.org)since 1992 and two time President of burlson2Olympic Peninsula Woodturners chapter of AAW.  Current member Woodturners of St Louis chapter of AAW www.stlturners.org.

I currently have pieces in the Bluestem Gallery, Columbia, MO http://www.bluestemmissouricrafts.com/ and The Plank Road, St Charles MO. http://www.plankroadgifts.com/

Please feel free to email at dan@dbwoodturning.com if you have any questions or would like to talk about a unique commissioned piece.

Mounted on lathe between centers.

Shavings flying, shaping the outside.

Sanding.

Putting the linseed oil finish on the outside.

Cutting out the center.

Cutting the tenon off that I used to hold it in the chuck while I did the inside.

Final little bit of the tenon. Bowl is held on with a vacuum chuck.

Sanding the bottom

And 3 hours later a bowl.
